This course is designed to cover the fundamental elements of health & safety in the residential care settings. It follows the guidelines of Health Safety Authority and incorporates the specifics from Residentials Care’s Safety Statement.

Course Programme:

• Managing Health & Safety (Legislation, Duties of Employers and Employees, Safety Statement, Risk Assessment, Reviewing & Measuring Performance, Duties of Employers towards People who are not in their employment, Co-operation & Co-ordination with contractors and others, Consultation, information, Training & Supervision, Accident Reporting & Investigation)
• Workplace Hazards & Controls (Manual Handling – People Moving & handling, Slips, Trips and Falls, Work related violence and aggression, Biological Agents, Chemicals at Work, Workplace – General, Work-Related Vehicle Safety, Work Related Stress, night work & shift work)
• First Aid
• Pregnant at Work

This course is intended for anyone who works in residential care setting.

Training methodology:

This course is a classroom based and instructor led with the practical demonstrations.

Assessment:

There is a multiple-choice question exam at the end of the course.

Accreditation/Certification:

The successful participants will be awarded with Amber Safety Certificate of Completion valid for 3 years.
